Benefits Of Breathwork

Some of you may be new to breathwork and others have a regular practice; whichever it is for you, we hope you find the following helpful.

This article offers a brief snapshot of some of the benefits of breathwork. Next year we will be looking into the benefits with more focus, covering each one in detail. Are is a reminder of the power and beauty of this wonderful work you’re all doing.

Our community of breathers is growing, and it’s inspiring and humbling to see how many of you are joining together to create amazing wellbeing through our most readily available resource, the breath!

Q. How does Breathwork work?

A: Breathwork increases the oxygen supply in our system which activates more brain power, increases energy levels, and expands our awareness and concentration. Breathwork also facilitates a powerful detoxification process as 70% of our toxins are released through our breath! If we are not breathing at full capacity it is safe to say that we are not functioning at full capacity.

Q: Why does it work?

A: Breathwork allows us to restore our connection to our life force – without the breath we cannot live and by consciously re-connecting to it we are increasing our attention and awareness and therefore our capacity to live a more full and healthy life. Long held trauma can often be released in a guided breathwork session, creating more space for you to feel more alive! With expanded awareness we are able to see our lives from different points of view, allowing us to actively make more empowered choices.

Q: What issues can breathwork help resolve?

A: It is not just our brains that archive our journey through life, but our bodies too are left with the imprints of our experiences. Breathwork is a powerful tool for accessing this archive and releasing any memories that might be trapped in the body before they turn into dis-ease or illness. Breathwork can support all healing processes and is particularly supportive of the following;

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Lethargy
  • Pain management
  • Lack of creativity
  • Energy levels
  • Balancing the nervous system
  • Trauma release

Next month we will hear from Anthony, the founder of Alchemy of Breath about many of his personal thoughts, feelings and reflections on the power of this work – watch this space…

Steph Magenta is a current student with Alchemy of Breath Teacher Training.
